5 Tips to Buying a Kapota Online

Like shoes, glasses, and furniture, kapotas are becoming easier than ever to purchase with the click of a button. Here’s how to not mess it up.

Twenty years ago, when Zappos.com was just getting started, people thought it was outlandish to consider buying shoes online. Didn’t you have to go to a shoe store, get fitted, walk around, and then decide to make your purchase?

Fast forward to 2021 when every major retail purchase is done online. From mattresses to paint—and everything in between—customers are often able to enjoy the convenience of an online purchase even more than they did in-store.

But like everything else, there’s a right way to shop online and wrong way to shop. Buying a kapota online is no different. You’ll be making an investment and you want to make sure the fit, quality, and construction is perfect. So how can you be sure the convenience of online shopping doesn’t bring along any added risk?

1. Measure Up

Before choosing your size, make sure to take full-body measurements. We’re talking getting out a measuring tape and standing in front of the mirror. The more accurate your measurements, the better your kapota will fit.

2. Choose Your Fit

Do you go with slim fit, something more classic, or a completely modern drape? It’s important to know how you like your kapota to frame you. A slim fit is great for someone with a lighter build, while a traditional fit has more room in the arms and shoulders, better for a heavier build.

3. Get Tailor Ready

If you like a perfect fit, it’s not unusual to need a few minor alterations on the final product. The sleeves can be shortened or lengthened, buttons can be moved over, and hems can be extended as needed for the custom feel you crave.

4. Sweat the Small Stuff

There’s no way around it: fit, construction, and material are the cornerstones of a quality kapota. And when it comes to buying online, details always matter. Make sure you can see close-up pictures of buttons, seams, and fabric. Does the lapel lay flat without creasing? Is there a full lining? Go the extra mile now so that when you wear that kapota for the first time, you feel like a million dollars.

5. Check the Return Policy

As with anything you’re buying online, you’ll want to double check the return policy before you check out. Once you touch and feel the material, try it on in the mirror, and walk around your house in it, you might want to switch the size or go with a different cut. Buying a kapota with hassle-free returns is the way to go.
